In the summer of 2014 we were approached by Bapu Hospitality to refresh their 3,500sqft South Indian Diner in Glasgow’s Merchant City.
We referenced the vibrant street food scene of Southern India as inspiration to create a new feel for the Restaurant reflecting Indian culture in a contemporary way. A coherent series of spaces, flowing easily from entrance to waiting to bar to restaurant floor were initiated, enhancing natural orientation and allowing easier subdivision of space to cater for differing usage patterns throughout the day and night.
Patterned encaustic tiles, wood panelling, filament lightbulbs and a muted, earthy colour scheme combine to give a modern yet relaxed, warm and welcoming cafe space.
